Eurochem, a person who declined to be named, said: “Through the distributors, our dedicated NPK fertilizers are sold in China more than 200,000 tons per year. The new plant will be our expansion of business in this area and further increase our production of dedicated Fertilizer market share of reasonable measures." He declined to disclose the company's planned investment in the project. After production, the two parties will be divided into corresponding proportions according to the input ratio. Russia’s Eurochem does not rule out the possibility of inviting third parties to join the cooperation.

Konstantin Yumin, an analyst at Raiffeisenbank in Austria, estimates that the cost of the project will be 50-60 million U.S. dollars. He said that the Migao Group, as a leading potash fertilizer company in the Chinese market, may become an important distribution partner of Russia's Eurochem in China. In particular, the company may provide raw materials to other production sites of the Michael Group. The joint venture in Yunnan has become the second national project initiated by Russia's Eurochem in the past month. Eurochem announced in mid-July that it plans to invest approximately US$1.5 billion in the next five years to build a production plant for nitrogen and urea in the United States.

Prior to Russia’s approval of Sinopec’s bid for the Russian rubber giant, Eurochem also announced a large-scale offshore investment project in 2008. At that time, the company planned to invest 2.5 billion U.S. dollars in the mining of phosphorite in Kazakhstan before 2015, and at the same time build an ore refinery and 3 fertilizer production plants in the country. However, the project has not yet been implemented until 2013. Informed industry sources explained: “The time the Kazakhstan government issued the license was far longer than expected.”

According to Ivan Andriyevsky, Managing Partner of 2K Audit, (2KAudit), it is still too early to comment on Eurochem’s international investment plans in Russia. Despite the continued increase in demand in the Southeast Asian market, the demand for inorganic fertilizers in the United States has dropped dramatically.

However, Andriyevsky also said: "Given the company's revenue and profit situation," Eurochem's announced overall foreign investment plan so far seems feasible.
