Rieger Begonia is a winter flowering Begonia variety that is a hybrid of Soco Begonia and many bulbous Begonias. It has the advantages of full plant type, large flowers, many flowers, rich colors, multiple flowering in one year, and strong disease resistance. It is an excellent indoor potted flower.

Lige Haitang enjoys a warm and humid semi-shade environment, is not cold-resistant, and is also afraid of high temperature. It requires high air humidity and is suitable for growth in slightly humus-rich, loose and breathable slightly acidic soil.

When the plant grows slowly or completely stagnate at high temperature in summer, it should be cut off the residual leaves and shaved 50% to 70%; control the watering to keep the soil slightly wet, prevent the soil from being too wet. The roots caused to rot, and even the whole plant died in severe cases. After the autumn cool, the plants begin to sprout new branches from the base. When they reach a certain height, the old branches are cut off from the base with a sharp knife, and the amount of water is increased to promote the growth of the plants. When the new branches are basically shaped, 3 new branches are reserved for each pot, and the rest are cut off to concentrate the nutrients, so that the plants can be formed at an early date.

After October, the plant growth rate is accelerated. In addition to keeping the soil moist, the compound liquid fertilizer with a concentration of 0.2% can be applied for about 15 days.

In winter, sufficient light is required and the temperature must not be lower than 10 °C. In the seedling stage, when the plants grow to 4 leaves, the heart is topped to promote the growth of the lateral branches, so that the plant type is full, and the excess flower buds are removed in time, so as to prevent the excessive consumption of nutrients from affecting the development of the flowers, and the yellow leaves and diseased leaves are removed at any time.

Rieger Begonia is a short-day plant. When the daily light time is more than 14 hours, the plant is in the vegetative growth period; below 10 hours, it is the reproductive growth stage, which is beneficial to the differentiation of the flower buds, thereby achieving the purpose of flowering, and the flowering period can be adjusted in the production.
